These are the trains that took over service in 2018, just regular Bom Sinal's Mobile 3, soon to be joined by Marcopolo Rail units (yeah, THAT Marcopolo)

RFFSA bought 12 DMUs from Ganz-Mรกvag in 1973 to be put into service in luxury "high-speed" passenger lines. They were retired in 1987.
BUT, Teresina, bought them in 1991 after a deal went through with Argentinian Materfer. They were refurbished 3 times and retired in 2018
Neobus Mega Evolution mounted over the Mercedes OH-1621L chassis
Neobus Mega 2004 over the Volkswagen 17.260 EOT
Ciferal Megabus articulated mounted over the Volvo B58 chassis
Caio Alpha mounted over the Scania L113CL chassis
It's honestly an insult for me the fact that my city used to have one of the coolest bus fleets in the country, and now, it's probably the 2nd most depressing

09.09.2025 14:53 โ ๐ 103 ๐ 15 ๐ฌ 4 ๐ 0It should've been this, but hey, we can always count on the Port Authority to discontinue a service loved by literally everyone (I refuse to use their new name)
This is the Drake Shuttle btw, I think it was the last line in the system to use PCC streetcars
Not really urbanism content, but as you know, I'm a bus foamer, so here's bus foaming content I make

Because the lines and services will still be controlled by the government, but operated and owned by the private companies, it's the same concession system we use to run our buses.
Line 10 will most likely end up in the hands of a different operator, and then it's illegal to do like Japan
Another thing that's making the situation worse is that, instead of privatizing the whole system, they're doing each line separately.
Lines 8 and 9 are owned by ViaMobilidade, line 7 is now of TIC trens, lines 10, 11, 12 and 13 will go to different companies
It's a very unnecessary mess
If you stick around you'll notice that this is 90% of transit problems in Brazil

I'll be talking about trolleybus very soon, you can always count me on doing so
I'm all in the new Acela thing and all but, 7h5? Jesus I never realised the northeast corridor was THAT LONG
No wonder it's an opinion divider in the U.S urbanist scenario
Yeah but it's a different method of privatization. Here we use a concession system, so the company is basically hired by the government to run the line, a line of which the government is the only one that can change.
So really the termination of the service is a political decision purely
Thanks! This means a lot to me
I can say the same about your page and Puerto Rico!
That's less than it takes me to go to work in the morning, and it's a distance like, 15km
Chicago - Kenosha seems like a full fledged trip
Kenosha really is a Chicago suburb, huh

29.08.2025 10:44 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0For now all we have to do is accept the fact that the 710 service won't come back soon, Tarcรญsio loves privatization, and the majority of people who vote for him don't take public transport ever. And he'll just continue privatizing everything untill we're in the same situation RIo de Janeiro is now.
29.08.2025 00:12 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0- Does the future hold something good?
Most likely, no, Brazil is very famous for starting giant transportation projects and never finishing them (ehem, Rio de Janeiro's metro). Probably the only savior on this is that we're getting a hold of CRRC, so maybe there's a future. +
People were interviewed and not a single person was happy about the change. Some said it was a mess, a regression and even inhumane.
The service operated just fine, helping people to get were they needed with a one seat ride, but now, they have to change trains in a station unfit for it +
To TRY "remedy" the situation, they arranged it in such a way that, trains on line 7 would have a cross-platform transfer with line 10, and TRIED their best to make both trains arrive at the same time, if not, at maximum 5 minutes
This proved to change nothing, as the station got extremely crowded +
- Why was it so chaotic?
As well as ending the 710 service, the terminus of line 7 was also changed. In the past, it terminated at Luz, now it does it one station earlier, at Barra Funda, because it's the station where the future train to Campinas will start, so they made it a "mega-hub" +
This means that the 710 service couldn't continue as the companies who operated them would be different, one being private and the other, state-owned (not for long tho).
Because of that, people were warned about the end of the service months in advance, all of this to culminate in today's chaos +
However, CPTM line 7 covers almost half of the alignment up untill Jundiaรญ, from there on it's freight territory. Because of that, our delightfull governor decided that line 7 should be privatezed too.
As such, TIC Trens will take over control of line 7 around november this year +
Tarcรญsio de Freitas, elected governor of the state in 2022, has come a long way to make the train happen. The company that will operate has already been chosen (a joint venture of the Grupo Comporte and CRRC) and construction is set to start in 2026 with the completion estimated to happen in 2031 +
29.08.2025 00:12 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Since then, there hasn't been a single passenger train connecting these two cities that aren't even 2 hours away from one another.
For that reason, many politicians have tried to re-introduce the train, and we're currently on the one who seems like will work. +
- Why was the 710 service discontinued?
Let's go back in time for a bit. Up untill around 1998, there were still regular trains between Sรฃo Paulo and Campinas, the largest cities in the state (forget Guarulhos).
This however changed when FEPASA was privatazed and went "bankrupt" +
