Fast so, als sei die „fragen Sie Ihre Töchter“-Rhetorik ein altbewährtes rassistisches Mittel: Frauen und deren Sicherheit könnten Rechten nicht egaler sein — es sei denn, man kann den vermeintlich nötigen Schutz der weißen/deutschen Frau vor dem bösen Ausländer populistisch nutzen.

Die Inkonsequenz liegt doch bei den Konservativen, die einerseits behaupten, dieses Problem existiere und dann aktiv entscheiden, aus ihrer Sicht besonders stark gefährdeten Schutzbedürftigen keinen Schutz zu gewähren.

Dass Friedrich Merz jetzt die Frauen vorschiebt, exakt formuliert "die Töchter", ist nicht nur widerlich, sondern spielt weiter auf der rechtsradikalen Klaviatur des hässlichen Deutschen, der doch nur "seine Frauen" vor den bösen Ausländern beschützen will. Der Rassist sitzt tief. #merz

It is possible to criticize previous administrations and simultaneously recognize that the current one is actively stripping basic human rights from people at an unprecedented level.

Treatment of immigrants and refugees has historically been bad in the US. That doesn’t justify or mitigate literally kidnapping people — including citizens, btw — off the street and shipping them to gulags abroad or ”Alligator Alcatraz” without due process.
