People across Wisconsin made their voices loud and clear: our votes are not for sale.

By many accounts, Wisconsin felt the weight of America—and, frankly, the world—on its shoulders in this election. And Wisconsinites across our state showed up for this moment in record numbers to exercise the fundamental American right to cast their ballot in a fair, safe, and secure election. I want to thank our exceptional clerks, election administrators, and poll workers who helped ensure we could. “In our state’s history, we have perhaps never witnessed an election as significant, contentious, and divisive—or more expensive. But Wisconsinites proved we will not be bought—not by the richest or most powerful people in the world or anyone else. That matters. “This election was about the resilience of the Wisconsin and American values that define and unite us. This election was about doing what’s best for our kids, protecting constitutional checks and balances, reaffirming our faith in the courts and the judiciary, and defending against attacks on the basic rights, freedoms, and institutions we hold dear. “But above all, this election was as much about who Wisconsinites believe we can be as it was about the country we believe we must be. “For anyone who mistakenly believes actions and decisions in Washington are neither seen nor heard here in Wisconsin or states across our country, the people of Wisconsin responded tonight. “With renewed hope, faith, and purpose, our work to protect and defend these values continues in earnest tomorrow. “Forward, and for Wisconsin, always.”

Finally-It is disappointing that the federal government is attempting to make people worry about voting this close to an important election. I hope this is not a ham-fisted attempt to shore up a failing bid for the WI Supreme Ct by the candidate currently behind in the polls. 7/7

5-WI already uses paper ballots or paper voting trails. We do not have direct recording machines in the state. There is a paper record of every vote cast in the state. 6/7

4-The part of the order demanding proof of citizenship to register (again - for Federal elections!) doesn’t even take effect for 30 days, which puts it well past our Election on April 1. 5/7

3-WI is prohibited by a state court ruling (from Waukesha county!) from even using the NVRA registration form referenced in the EO. No voters are registering in Wisconsin using that form. They are prohibited from doing so. 4/7

2-the EO focuses on the NVRA (National Voting Rights Act) and purports to require proof of citizenship for those persons using the NVRA form to register to vote. WI is *exempt* from the NVRA. 3/7

1-State elections are governed by state law, not federal law. The WI Supreme CT race is a state race only (there are no federal elections at all on April 1), so any federal demands do not and cannot affect this race. 2/7
