once that's reached, it becomes easier to recommend the game to others. rs3's reached a good place with its writing now, for example, after a few years of a rough patch. i just hope gameplay and other elements can match up too, so it becomes a worthwhile game to recommend

i do just want to see where things go going forward. hesitancy is fair when rs3 has had a history of overhype and disappointment cycles. the game needs new players, this goes without saying, but I wonder if getting there will take the kind of trust and stability osrs seems to have built first

core gameplay is the wrong word, it's the rejuvination plans that have apparently floated around. mtx became a(n unfortunately profitable) bandaid for rough, outdated, and flawed gameplay, so if anything is being planned to change that, i'd like to hear it more

also i am hesitant on cosmetic toggle; vast majority of cosmetics are fine and we're only likely to complain if we come across individual ones that happen to be annoying. i'd like to see what the toggle options are; one that removes particles would be great, but i dont want a single on/off toggle

eh not really handwaving, if anything something i am a bit miffed about is we're not gonna be hearing the full extent of the core game changes until january (hence, remaining lukewarm)

mtx will be removed eventually anyway, as more countries crack down on lootboxes and such, this has just been good marketing around it

still, vote yes anyway, because data is a really good thing to support the devs who fight behind the scenes, i'll just remain lukewarm on it for the time being

I still can't help but feel like most of this has been a pr stunt; the experiments were announced weeks after pride was ditched, and successfully changed the negative press to positive

June, Jagex was accused of rolling back its support for Pride in RuneScape in an article over on Pink News. There was still in-game content to commemorate the event, but assets were simply reused from last year's Pride. At the time, Bellamy drew ire from parts of both Jagex's own community and the industry at large over comments he made in an internal meeting with staff to address the situation - namely that pulling Pride content was to avoid a "backlash", adding that said content was "controversial in a way it didn't used to be" At the time, one anonymous staffer accused the company of caving to American-style conservatism because of the shift in the political climate. Pressed on this, Bellamy stands by his original comments, emphasising that it was his decision and no one else's. "Ultimately, my job is governance and protection as much as anything else, and so sometimes those kinds of harsh decisions have to be made to protect the imminent future of the game," he says. "If there are tough decisions to be made next year, we'll make them. If the world has changed a bit and the environment is different we will react accordingly

A lot of people missed this. Jagex CEO Jon Bellamy seemed to double down on RuneScape’s muted approach to Pride in 2025, hinting he’d make a similar decision again if it’s still controversial to support LGBTQ rights in 2026
