My latest article for @footballheritage.bsky.social

A football shirt and an archaeological context board in one photo! I never thought I'd see archaeological excavation methodology used to promote a football shirt. But this is the advertising material for @fcaugsburg1907.bsky.social new #Roman themed third shirt!

Not particularly surprised by this. I've always been of the opinion that people moved around in the past more than we give them credit for.

I used to share a house with a Vasco da Gama fan. She used to tell me all about Edmundo and Bebeto and their turbulent relationship but successful partnership.

Instead of simply reading great works of literature on your own and expanding your knowledge to better understand them, you could waste gallons of water and a shit ton of electricity to turn it into sub par slop.

You try to engage them in what you think are interesting subjects, but their minds always seem to be on higher matters.

I feel your pain. Bloody cat has no interest in Bronze Age ringworks in the Thames estuary and their potential role as centres of exchange. He walks off every time I bring the subject up.

In my latest article for @footballheritage.bsky.social, about #football and #archaeology, I mention a project that I worked on which revealed important information about the interiors of a certain type of #AngloSaxon building. That project is described in this book:

That's the standard way of expressing calibrated Radiocarbon dating results. I would still refer to 2000BC as 2000BC.

I nearly didn't study archaeology. Still hadn't made a final decision when I made my applications. Nearly did geography. I applied to do post-grad stuff at Reading- seemed nice there- but it all sort of fell through.
