Groundhog day
Groundhog day
It would be darkly comedic if it wasn’t my country going round and round in circles on the road to nowhere
FFS, just maddening
Nothing new, the same old shit again and again
Europe hates Trump. But as things stand, by 2030 there will be MAGA-adjacent governments in France, Italy, Spain and the UK, while they can't be ruled out in Poland, Portugal, the Netherlands and any number of smaller central and Eastern European states. Maybe Europe doesn't hate Trump *that* much.
It's maddening
Ideologues? Hard Brexiters, including this Labour Government, can speak for themselves but the aspiration to join the single market, a customs union and ultimately the EU has a solid pragmatic basis. We’re not the ones wedded to the fantasies of Brexit. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...
Tbc, the ultra-wealthy now supposedly fleeing Dubai are a relatively small part of the UAE's economic relevance
The mostly South Asian middle class 20-30 times their size and the presence of literally over a trillion dollars in sovereign wealth will likely keep it a regional pole of accumulation
Also what is misogyny exactly? How does one define this precisely?
A v good thread on the manosphere and crisis of misogyny among young men. Is it worse than ever, or is it just the latest manifestation of a long-running issue?
I enjoyed Louis Theroux's delve into the Manosphere, but I have the niggling sense that the whole panic around it is a bit of a fantasma.
The prevalence of misogyny among young men is no higher now than in 2015. The worst you can say is it's stopped shrinking.
What am I missing here?
Menon has always been against FoM. 58mins 30 seconds
www.youtube.com/watch?v=g75O...
Where Anand says "FoM is weird"
Don't u mean if Andy Burnham has a majority? 😂
For health reasons I'm taking a break from UK politics podcasts but I will probably listen to this. If Sánchez had a majority like Starmer's support for Indy in Scotland wd have collapsed, the Lords wd have been abolished and the UK wd be on its way back to the EU
I think it'll be good for your mental health 👍
So Farage won't be dead most likely if he wasn't a psychopath. That's my view anyway 😂 the guys insane, he sleeps 5 hours apparently, always worked long hours, drinks like a horse etc. lot of CEOs or politicians are similar, just functioning drug addicts
It's v true. I also think tho that Farage is a psychopath & many politicians are. They often aren't impacted mentally, sometimes even physically, like the rest of us. I don't wanna say super human coz that implies they're good ppl, they're often opposite ofc. But they don't get as burnt out as u & I
Wow, a quadruple bypass at 53 is intense! It's true that genetics can play a huge role in heart health, sometimes more than diet or fitness. Stress can also impact your heart, even if you seem healthy. It's a reminder that we should prioritize both physical and mental health.
Bad diet*
So he lasted this long on his bad health & remember ppl saying he wouldn't last this long so he could still live another decade, it's all luck
I'm not a doctor but it's definitely mix of luck & genetics. Some ppl drink heavily & smoke & still live long
Seems to be missing Ireland*
Maximum fees of €2,500 p.a. which are dressed up as a "student contribution".
(* English spoken there. Sort of.)
He's v lucky. Just look at his near plane crash. + He survived testicular cancer. Other ppl do all the right things & still get issues
Some ppl are just wired differently & can just keep going & their hangovers aren't as bad. Farage seems 2 be 1 of these. Lucky genes I spose. I know a Belarusian/Italian who is a functioning alcoholic, he can drink a bottle of vodka & next day work efficiently, it's like hangovers aren't a thing
Yes. Or functional binge drinker. There's a fine line between alcoholic and massive drinker I spose 😂
Cask ale only for the cameras. Deep down he prefers his port & expensive wines/spirits
From what I've read he's lucky in that he can turn it on/off so I don't think he's an alcoholic who cant stop. He's just a big drinker
True but so were many UK politicians : John Smith, Charles Kennedy, Asquith etc.
Process and law. He is very good at both. But the UK needs a Labour Prime Minister.
