Torture Techniques from CIA Black Sites Were Used at Alligator Alcatraz Amnesty International, interviewing migrant detainees, identifies use of the confinement box. There can be no denying it is a torture prison

They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.

The people wondering "how could anyone who isn't a professional escape after a high profile daylight assassination" are forgetting two things:

1. Cops are bad at their jobs

2. The FBI used to be somewhat better at their jobs and were recently gutted by political layoffs

If you are a professional bully, eventually someone will fight back in a way you aren't going to like.

Phang: If you were scrolling on social media and saw a dog locked up in the middle of the Everglades—in the sun, in the heat, in the humidity—the outrage would be wild, wouldn’t it?

But then—we’re okay with human beings being treated like that?

a still of mahmoud khalil as he exited ice detention. he’s wearing a long sleeve khaki button up and a white and black keffiyeh wrapped around his neck. he’s got a big smile on his face and his fist raise in the air, defiant and proud.

Mahmoud Khalil is free.

If someone throws a can of soup at a riot cop who's attacking them we have three months of discourse about non-violence meanwhile the Right has been carrying out assassinations for my entire life and there's never any of that shit directed towards them

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed

The great secret of the state is laid bare: there never was a difference between the secret police dragging someone away and a group of random paramilitaries doing the same thing

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed

Now this isn't to say that building more housing has zero effect on house prices. But it's important to state that most western countries are in such a bad housing crisis that even a 20% drop in house prices wouldn't make housing affordable for the majority of people.

This trend was basically true for every so called "western" country.

In Australia the rate of house building has been greater than the rate of population growth but yet we have one of the worst housing crisies in the world.

This is because housing in Australia is such an attractive investment.

Because the housing crisis arises from the fact that housing can be profitable at all.

The housing crisis post 1930 was solved because governments spent then unprecedented amounts on public housing.

This made housing itself unprofitable and so housing became affordable.

I regret to inform whomever that is that May Day began in the United States, Chicago Illinois to be exact, led by a woman who was a former slave and became an anarchist and her husband. I will inform the misinformed that the US has propagandized the American public for so long, this is the result.

I don't disagree in the slightest, I just think there are a lot of housing advocates who stop at zoning reform. I made my post to state that it's not enough, we need to go further and dream bigger to fix the housing crisis.

You cannot build your way out of a housing crisis. Capitalism will keep housing out of the hands of those who need it most.

Until the government steps up and provides housing at low or no-cost many will remain destitute.

Ending capitalism and class society would also be acceptable.

if you’re feeling incompetent or useless today, just a reminder a bird thought this was a perfectly acceptable place to lay eggs

you’re doing fine

Wilmer only found out his son had been detained after receiving a phone call on March 15 from his nephew, Luis, who lives with them. That morning was their last time together; they had gone around the corner to do their laundry. Later that day, Wilmer said that his son met with a friend to get help with some errands at the American Red Cross. He learned this from Luis, who looked at the situation from inside the apartment: when his son was on his way back, just steps from his home when ICE agents stopped him. “The officers grabbed him and two other boys right at the entrance to our building. One said, ‘No, he’s not the one,’ like they were looking for someone else. But the other said, ‘Take him anyway.'”

That moment marked the beginning of Wilmer’s search for answers — answers he’s still waiting for.

One of hundreds of people abducted by ICE and sold to slavery in El Salvador was a 19 year old with no criminal record in the US or Venezuela and no tattoos of any kind.

An ICE kidnapper who grabbed him outside his house said, "He's not the one."

The other said, "Take him anyway."

So they did.

Bring back *everyone* who was sent from the U.S. to CECOT in El Salvador. *No one* should be sent there. ALL their rights were violated. ALL of them should come home.
