Maybe it's just some massive gap in my listening, but I have never heard a single song by the band Bread, nor could I name one if I had to.

Were they such a phenomenon that a Bread tribute band is playing thousand seat theaters?

This all seems very weird to me.

They've changed their policies, but I used to work at a venue that was weird about stuff like that and were always interfering with artists. I can't imagine why, as a venue, you would go against a band's wishes. I remember them blocking taper access for a Bela Fleck show even though Bela didn't care

Also, TIL, The 1968 home opener for the Boston Patriots against the NY Jets was held in Birmingham due to a stadium conflict in Boston. The first (and probably only) regular season NFL game to be played in Alabama.

Poking around some historical lists and what not and apparently having preseason games in other cities used to be a fairly common thing. From 1938 to 1988 there were 15 NFL preseason games held in Birmingham.
