Playing around with @coolify.io again - it seems there have been quite a few improvements since the last time I looked. Feels more usable for me now.

Plus it's helped me discover Dragonfly - a drop-in Redis replacement but 25x faster apparently. Going to have a look at that!

The more I work with raw SQL, the more I learn and appreciate just how much can be achieved with just the database server alone.

The great thing of using your own software to do tasks - personally or professionally - is that if it breaks, or doesn't quite do what you need at that moment in time, you have the ability to fix or change it.

And that's why I love solving problems by making software.

All of my projects use Tailwind, and either React or Vue. Hence why it's so perfect for my use case.

I know I'm late to the party, but I really like the shadcn UI library - it helps me throw things together quickly to get that functionality down.

Polish and making it "my own" comes later.

I just used AI to code a piece of functionality. Fairly detailed prompt as well.

It look me longer to find the bug it introduced, than it would have taken me to write the code correctly in the first place πŸ˜…

"I want to achieve passive income" is something I hear a lot.

It doesn't exist.

It's delayed gratification for a chunk of work you put in to start with.

Nah this was being implemented for users - the person building it wouldn't understand the security implications. I'm supposed to be working on the project, not sure why he hasn't asked me to do anything but I won't be working on it with that in place.

Either - same difference. "Magic password" is the term AI gave this person.

Magic link as you described. The link contains a one-time token.

Magic password - send an email with a OTP (typically 6 digits).

Both of them are dangerous as hell for the reason you described.

Recently seen an example of someone using what is effectively magic passwords for a social media site build.

I don't like magic passwords at the best of times, but that feels like a recipe for disaster.

2 years as a volunteer fire control operator, a year within that charity in the background. This year I'm a volunteer airfield marshaller for airshows.

Next year I'll be looking at moving to event control operations. Lots to learn, can't wait!

I've said it's a risk, now I'm watching it play out in front of me.

The worst thing you could do as a non-developer is think that AI is a superpower that can help you launch a product or service.

It's too easy to AI-code something with gaping security vulnerabilities.

Sold one of these this week - an NFC keychain for your social media account.

Been playing around with NFC for a little while, doesn't seem there's much of a market for NFC stuff generally though.

The web interface is dreadful - clunky, slow, glitchy.

My main complaint with them has always been downtime - until recently.

I seem to have so many SSH auth issues and I really don't know why. I have to regen keys all over the place, so much time loss.

Bitbucket consistently remains the worst hosted Git provider I've ever used. I never had authentication problems like I get with BB - repos just suddenly "forget" how to authenticate.

Mental.

Watching the VE day flypast reminded me of 5 years ago when 7 Dakotas departed Duxford in formation and flew under then around me while I was in the air.

I would have loved to have been in the air watching the flypast train go by this afternoon.

Even better is that Octopus seem to have removed the 30 day period where you can't switch back on to Agile, so I switched over today to make use of it and I'll switch back to the EV tariff tomorrow based on price forecasts.

I'm in various groups for Etsy sellers, and the most common theme I see is "I'm not getting any sales, I feel like I'm doing something wrong."

They never consider that there's no market.

The lack of research and validation I see is actually worse than the software market.

Made my first proper flight in the new aircraft, sat down to lunch with my laptop right in front of this (mine is the second on the list.)

Love the little extra touches some airfields make.

Ahh ok.

We potentially have a buyer for the engine/engine core, just waiting for him to make a decision on it.

Slow 3D print sales in April due to Easter, but it still came out the second highest in revenue since it all started.

3D print stores have cleared Β£7,500 in revenue in the first 9 months.

Can I make it Β£10k by the end of year 1?!

Anyone with a turbo could be grounded soon because of a v-clip that nobody can get hold of!

Our engineers said on the pre-buy it was a very tidy example. We're considering options for the other so not entirely sure what direction we'll go yet (engine core is being offered to someone.)

...online was looking to be upwards of Β£80k with the wing and engine realistically.

I found this Arrow for around the same cost, and it's in much better condition. A month later, she's ours - came home from Meppershall yesterday :)

Just need to get my IR(R) back now!

It went in for its 50 hour and they found 1.29mm deep corrosion on the RH wing spar, in line with the undercarriage mount. More than the engineers could sign off, and we've been struggling to get anywhere with it since.

Our engine was 2-3 years from overhaul as well, total cost to bring it back...

Started reading through the CRI course syllabus last night (Class Rating Instructor - a restricted flight instructor qualification.)

Going to be a bit more involved than I first thought. And I'm going to need to get my speaking confidence levels up.
