It’s more common in the US to only get an undergrad degree compared to both NL and Germany (probably because of the costs associated with going to uni)

I think that is partially why the first year of undergrad here (out of 4, compared to 3 in Germany) is more like the last year of high school in Germany than the first year of university

I tell this story to people and they shrug and send their next paper to an Elsevier journal 🤷‍♀️

First, I want to extend my gratitude to all the people who have reached out from across the country and around the world to support our family. This kindness of strangers is the most fitting tribute because if you ever encountered my wife, Renee Nicole Macklin Good, you know that above all else, she was kind, In fact, kindness radiated out of her. Renee sparkled. She literally sparkled. I mean, she didn't wear glitter but I swear she had sparkles coming out of her pores. All the time. You might think it was just my love talking but her family said the same thing. Renee was made of sunshine, Renee lived by an overarching belief: there is kindness in the world and we need to do everything we can to find it Where it resides and nurture it where it needs to grow Renee was a Christian who knew that all religions teach the same essential truth: we are here to love each other, care for each other, and keep each other safe and whole. I see - well, it’s always necessary to do everything you can to get high quality data, in my opinion this is not unique to Prolific; we face many scammers trying to get into our EMA studies and it’s a lot of hard work to identify them and prevent them from enrolling 10x into our study

So you meet them one by one, what’s the problem? I will do whatever is necessary to ensure the integrity and quality of my data

I’ve collected great data on prolific as recently as 2025. We spoke face-to-face with every single participant as we onboarded them. They were highly motivated and did a great job participating in our study. What do you think how they feel if they see posts like yours calling prolific research bs?

Also, I choose cc by 4 for my work not because of legal details but the intention of the license as I understand it. The authors are studying this topic, they should be aware how many people want nothing to do with LLMs. Thus, they should have asked me even if it’s “legal” to do so w/ asking

I use a verbal example similar to this when talking to Republicans/Afd voters to try to get them to feel more compassion towards refugees/immigrants. Usually not effective sadly
