why would these policies that the people want be put into law?

Until our laws put reasonable constraints on the influence of corporate money on elections, on Congress, and on the Judiciary, our system of government is flawed, and, frankly, we just have to put up with it.

Corporate interests are overjoyed that we keep the spotlight on Trump and Musk. When those guys flame out, as they appear to be on track to do, those faceless corporations will just buy a kinder, gentler puppet to distract us, and make us feel like we put down the bad guys.

I grew up in the post-punk era–so many combinations of musical styles and influences were exploding across the airwaves and dance floors. For me, two of the bands that Dave Allen founded, Gang of Four and Shriekback, were kind of the touchstone for music that brought the body and mind together:
