It wasn't red in the film. It appeared in the film in its original green GWR livery and with its original number 5764. Some years ago I overheard a fellow guest at a Lakes B&B complaining to the hill farmer owner that it had rained continuously since his arrival from Surrey. It's weird stuff, definitely. Sort-of related to stimulants, but not in a nice way --> side-effects like nervousness, sweating, insomnia, tremors, light-headedness, etc.

Amazingly, there have even been (rare) reports of folk using it recreationally...
