I don’t pirate software and I don’t care to argue why the two things are simply not the same. It’s not a moral argument, they’re simply different scenarios entirely.

Stealing software to make something is not at all the same as stealing creative work/scholarship to make software that makes shitty simulacra of that.

I was OK with all the “I was -5 years old when Criminal Minded dropped” people but having a tough time with “I was -5 years old when The Cold Vein dropped.” (Those people are 19 years old btw.)

Not an accurate parallel. Some of my own writing and all of my parents’ life work was pirated to train LLMs. We didn’t use pirated MS Word to write it, and I don’t think anyone who might have went on to claw down billions of dollars.

Did you know that they destroyed ONE MILLION BOOKS for the Meta AI, because the pages had to be ripped out to scan them. (And not pay the authors.)
