Yes, currently the Operator doesn’t support resizing PVCs :-( the reason is because we highly recommend local SSDs for better performance

This doesn’t mean we won’t ever support resizing PVCs but you’ve hit a known limitation atm

Playing with OSS code is all about a learning journey and, community contribution. If you are curious on how this works, I just implemented a naive way to deserialize an Alternator serialized map via the Cassandra (CQL) binary protocol! 👇

This serialization happens due to a few reasons: 1. The CQL protocol doesn't allow one to store types differently than what you specified when you created the map. 2. The CQL protocol enforces a schema, while the DynamoDB API doesn't.

Fork it, do your thingy, experiment... You get the idea! :-) ScyllaDB implements a #DynamoDB API (Alternator). An implementation details is that it serializes all non-key Attributes (or GSIs) under an ":attrs" column, which is basically a map<text, blob> in CQL.

I've been fiddling around to get (more) familiar with ScyllaDB codebase (in particular the original AS JSON CQL function originally at github.com/psarna/scyll...), and understand how things work. Here's what super cool about working with databases and - most importantly - open source. 🧵
