Yes very nice. Thanks to the good folk setting them up. I saw them on my cycle to work last week. Excellent things.

Moments of joy - when you scrap the broken PIR sensor and find that the screws and washers will fit your bottle cage and panniers*

So I'm savouring my microwave lasagne and reading Cycle Magazine when, suddenly, I find I've written 4 notebook pages of an article that I may well submit for consideration. My first beer gone, I shall squeeze past my bike and laden panniers to find another in the garage.

Fascinating article on translation in The Author @societyofauthors.bsky.social. "The Good Ancestor: How to Think Long Term in a Short Term World" by Roman Krznaric. Translation by Shoukei Matsumoto, Japanese Buddhist Monk & empath, seeking to step into the shoes of others & see the world as they do.

Delighted to welcome Sheffield Universities Guild of Change Ringers to Dore today. Their ringing sounds fab. Meanwhile I'm doing a photo expo for Tour de France 2027 bellringing downstairs. We had a rave ringing for the 2014 Tour #tdf #letour #letourfemmes

Bells & Bikes Rod Ismay has a passion (some would say obsession) for the Tour de France. Fortunately Rod’s issues found their natural home when his native Yorkshire became the host for the 2014 Grand Départ. Rod al...

Using up an odd days holiday.
Very productive.
Acupuncture to improve breathing, blended some mackerel with salad and citrus as related work lunch experiment (damp removing foods) and then cleaned my bike. Loads of the day left too. Walk next.

There's no big mystery.

This wasn't "electoral fraud" or "postal votes" or "family voting" or "sectarianism".

Reform's platform is all about shouting at foreigners and Muslims.

And a diverse, young, well-educated population told them where to go.

It was no deeper than that!😆

Researching new TV. Started at 43" but sofa distance says 56". Tried to mock up some cardboard to get an impression of 50". Michelin Carte Routiere with one horizontal section folded over is close. OS map too small. Any better recommendations?

No surprises, surely?

Candidate is arrogant charmless TV presenter & hates everything: lose.

Campaign is entitled technocracy + smearing left-liberalism: lose.

Candidate is local & can make OK speech about how a good job should lead to a good life: win.

Normal politics is trying to be born.

With the passage of the years I increasingly see the joy in such things as a decent bar of soap or a good pair of socks. An absorbent tea towel is a very fine thing too.

Furry croissant at The Veg Patch. 10 miles from the race route and ready for Le Tour de France 2027. Tourist Information oblivious, despite only 16 months to go, but a soft plush croissant from The Veg Patch is just the job. Allez allez allez #tdf #tdf2027 #letour

A Ribbon of Wildness Between Road and Pasture At first glance, the scene is an ordinary roadside wall – a strip of stone edging the tarmac footpath, with a fence and pasture beyond. Yet the top of this wall tells a richer, more hopeful story. …

Between tarmac & pasture, a wall-top blooms with Bird’s-foot Trefoil, Harebell, ferns and fine grasses. A narrow ribbon of biodiversity squeezed between two low-diversity landscapes. #WildflowerHour #Biodiversity #Cumbria forktail.co.uk/2025/08/27/a...

I'm 110% Yorkshire but now and again Chorley Cakes and Lancashire cheese just seem right. Gets you in the zone for the 2027 Tour de France #letourgb #tdf2027

Agreed! Full mudguards, mudflaps, racks & dynohub lights is what I see as a complete setup for all cycles.
