Waiting Space

A closer look at the artwork I designed for my ‘Geography History’ (a song about Waterford, commissioned by RTÉ)- releasing Fri 11/04/25

Referencing the song’s title- I wanted the artwork to have a ‘spirit of place’, & something that shows the passage of time - so I used a water-marbling technique.

‘Geography, History’ releases on 11th April. It was commissioned by @rteradio1 in 2024, for the doc. series ‘The County Measure’ - which invited me to compose a piece of music inspired by Waterford.
 
I’ve a limited edition blue vinyl, and foil art print, available to mark the release (links in bio)

Thanks Rob! Got it a few months ago (after trying to for years) - but life got in the way of being able to properly sit down with it. First proper few hours figuring things out on it, today.

Baby on the way in next few weeks though - so the voyage may be short-lived! 😅

Finally got to spend some time with an Arturia Minifreak - but I didn’t have any monitors, so here’s some audio-bleed from my headphones, and creaking sounds from me pressing keys…

Yes! Especially on the first day in a while, with a proper winter ‘chill’ to it. It all felt like a reminder of why we take the time to rest, if possible connect with nature again, and celebrate, at this time of year.

'Púca' is the Irish for ghost, & also what I call the icon in my logo- & a good way of describing ‘demo’ versions of songs

Beyond the assignment’s scope, I did actually make a number of instrumentals for Tramore locations during its development (including ‘Murmuration’ which soundtracks the video) which may see the light of day in the future

In addition to the knowledgeable guests, the production & cinematography were brilliant (loved the use of developing mediums, to tell the story of an older one)

Last week I graduated with a 1st Class Honours ‘Postgraduate Diploma in Science in Digital Media with Business Analytics' from SETU!

A mixture of design, digital media, programming, data analytics& digital business strategies – it was a good match for my mix of visual arts, & business, backgrounds!
