29.07.2025 17:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I saw they did, but I haven't checked em out yet. Was thinking of doing an episode on em, but we've recorded one more episode already, the Franchise Battle Royale, and after I post that, I'm taking August off to enjoy the summer and re-evaluate / re-focus the pod going into the fall.
29.07.2025 16:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I think everyone in the episode was surprised not to see The Shawshank Redemption on anyone's list haha I Love You Man really is one of my favorite comedies actually. Have you been watching Shrinking? Jason Segel is fantastic.

26.06.2025 21:40 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0E48: Bonus Episode - Favorite Movies of 2013 Honorable Mentions
By popular demand, Patrick opens the episode with his top 30-16 favorite movies from 2013. He then transitions to a cut segment from last episode where Patrick and Dan talk through other releases from 2013 that didn't make their lists.
Great list! I think the most interesting part is how so many good movies were released this year so each person's list is going to be pretty different. I actually haven't seen a bunch from yours: Nebraska, CBGB, Her, Dallas Buyer's Club, and Blue Jasmine.
18.06.2025 23:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The 2013 list started with like 80 movies I've seen. I wittled it down to 30, then focused on a Top 15 from there. So, we'll probably still do 1983, I just expect that our lists will be very similar, which is okay.
18.06.2025 19:52 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Hahaha I did see it. I just didn't get a chance to respond yet. That's actually what made me think, "oh yeah, I haven't really posted on Bluesky in a little while."
I gave '83 another look. Definitely some bangers. I guess what I meant was more that I'm used to starting with a much larger list.

Kicking off the weekend's 2003 movie marathon with these leading into this week's episode.
Starting with Final Destination 2.
Every chapter includes some of the best writing put to screen, and the way the opening scene and the restaurant scene mirror each other so well is masterful.
In an episode a few months ago, I said that I still felt like Pulp Fiction was his masterpiece, but this is pretty damn close.
Just finished watching the 4K Edition of Inglourious Basterds from Arrow and I have to say, the closing line from Aldo Raine really says it best: "I think this just might be my masterpiece!"
Tarantino had a hell of a lot of confidence to throw that in there, but damn if I don't love this movie.

This week we turn our heads to action comedy & spy movies with non-spoiler reviews of Novocaine, where a man who canβt feel pain battles to rescue his girlfriend from bank robbers, and Black Bag, an ensemble espionage film where a spy works to uncover the mole in his secret organization.
Be mindful, it's not an action movie but a mystery thriller where you're tracking down the mole in a small group of spies. Highly recommend, and see in theatres so we get more of these types of movies.
I'll be doing a more in-depth review in this week's episode along with Dan's review of Novocaine.
