Rob Grant, the co-creator of the comedy science fiction series RED DWARF, has died. This man has had an enormous influence on me. He showed what could be done with humor and what could be done with science fiction, broke new ground in both. I deeply mourn his passing.

That's a bit of hyperbole about "Hyperion," but it is a damn good novel.
