Succulents grow in a variety of places, ive seen people use sand and non soil mixes for succulents too. As long as they have good drainage and are not overwatered, succulent are not fussy.

During this time i dealt with miracle grow cacti mix but put extra pearlite and sand in there for additional drainage. I felt that miracle grow drainage was always insufficient.

I had a lot more following this, including plenty of string succulents.
