We had another bundle of celery stalks, and this time I started chopping it up, cuz I didn't want to let this become a setback for either of us. We successfully completed the gumbo. It's too spicy for me, so we've given a bunch of it to our neighbors. Of course, we've been laughing about it since.

Three days ago, @aquarobinn.bsky.social and I were prepping ingredients for gumbo. She turns around for 1 second, and the idiot jumps on the counter, knocking down the cutting board and all the chopped celery. I was @ my desk working on an oil pastel piece, so I couldn't catch the event in time. 🍲🥬

Map turtles have been one of my absolute favorite groups for a long time and only recently have I had the gear to truly capture their elegance. These two magnificent ladies are Ringed Map Turtles (Graptemys oculifera) that I photographed in Mississippi last spring. #herps 🐢

I need to get a new photo of myself holding a snake or some other kind of reptile. The current one is almost a year old, and the expo has since then moved to a much nicer location.

A dwarf reticulated python slithers onto my wrist, with her body supported by a stainless steel climbing structure I made. Her brilles (eye scales) are slightly translucent, as she is preparing to shed.

"Thanks for the fake tree, but your arm is warmer." -🐍

She looks "puffy" because she's about to shed, probably either today or tomorrow.

Trying to break my winter slump and be productive today. Made some bioactive soil mix for an enclosure upgrade, spent some time with Echidna (carpet python) and Typhon (boa), and set up/sealed said new enclosure for the upgrade.

A little green tree frog delicately spotted with red, sitting on a fern frond and singing into the night. Dozens of others nearby sing the same song, and females are hard to come by.

My team and I have spent a few days in the rainforest of Ranomafana National Park on our way east to the littoral forest south of Farafangana called Agnalazaha. It’s been dry here, but we were happy to find a few calling frogs, like this beautiful male Boophis tasymena. 🧪🐸
