As I’ve been saying for six years, you cannot decide to shut off empathy in just one lil area (all of disabled and vulnerable people.) Endangering people for your convenience and comfort is a drug you do not do recreationally.
If you want to the world to be more caring, then care more.
And maybe start by taking personal responsibility to not hurt other ppl with your own infections, & if you are an able-bodied adult who can afford kn95s & n95s, you are most likely to be perfectly capable of it.

Last night we reached the part of The Silver Chair where the Lady of the Green Kirtle tells them about the Gentle Giants and both my husband and my daughter have correctly guessed parts of the plot. They're so smart!
It's honestly easier to resist when my daughter is with me because she always wants to buy some if I buy some, but she doesn't use it as often as I do. So if I say, "We're not buying yarn today," we can both walk away. 😅
The knitting loom was very tempting though!

Kids go through so many varying levels of independence. My daughter is currently at the irritating stage where she wants to do things like open the car door and steer the shopping cart, but if she's feeling lazy she asks me to carry her. Pick a lane, child! 😅
