A different perspective would be: who should pay to retain vast swathes of medical image data that is unlikely to ever be accessed or used in anger (except by ?? AI trainers ??). You can't port that quantity of data to a different data store, so why not delete and spend savings on malaria research?

Deleting clinical images, why not?
If a healthcare institution stores 'your' medical images using some Cloud datastore - do you imagine they can ever use it except for warming up the data centre? At what point would will it be the correct response to just delete the data and save energy.

My lifetime subscription to World Marxist Review appears to have auto-expired some years ago but this looked like a near-substitute.
