Oh, me too
18.06.2025 12:55 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0During the symposium @amsterdamleuko.bsky.social, I learned that lifespan and quality of life have improved because caregivers now know better how to support #leukodystrophy patients. If thatβs not a cause worth spending a scientific career on, I donβt know what is. Congratulations, Marjo!
24.05.2025 18:30 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Leukodystrophies are rare, severe brain disorders. Itβs remarkable how much the field has progressed, from identifying disease genes and understanding some of the disease mechanisms to therapy, quite a bit of that owing to Marjos work @amsterdamleuko.bsky.social
24.05.2025 18:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yesterday in Amsterdam, Marjo van der Knaap gave her retirement lecture at @vuamsterdam.bsky.social. An international group of scientists working on #leukodystrophies paid respect to her achievements, including by wearing the traditional gown. There was also a good party @amsterdamleuko.bsky.social
24.05.2025 18:20 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 2Itβs years since I did #leukodystrophy research, so Iβm looking forward to the updates I'll get in the next 2 days symposium @amsterdamleuko.bsky.social. Weβll also celebrate the achievements of Marjo van der Knaap, who will retire soon.
21.05.2025 19:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Leaving Edinburgh and the peripheral nerve society meeting with lots of impressions of how much the science in this field has advanced in the last few years, and how basic science ultimately results in therapy approaches for neuropathies. Takes years but is very much worth it.
20.05.2025 20:41 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβm looking forward to the next days when Iβm in Edinburgh to learn about the newest research on the peripheral nervous system at pnsociety.com/2025-pns-ann...
16.05.2025 17:04 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If you're interested in new tools for #myelin research, here come anti-CNP #nanobodies. Congratulations to Petri Kursula, Felipe Opazo and the entire team! For structural, cell biology, and imaging data see

This interesting paper establishes zebrafish as a model to assess diameters of myelinated axons and their relevance for the speed of nerve conduction. Great work from Dave Lyons and his team in Edinburgh

If youβre interested in #axon/#glia interaction and #myelin, have a look at this interesting paper. My congratulations Zoe and Aiman to this great work. Iβm glad that we were able to contribute a tiny bit
