I feel like Kyle does really well when he understands or believes that he is sorely outgunned.
But then again, I feel like he puts the offense on a shorter leash when this happens so it's a double-edged sword ๐ฎโ๐จ

He/Him. Geologist for the UGS. Utah football fan via Stockholm Syndrome. LOTR is the greatest movie trilogy of all time, argue with the wall. Opinions and posts are my own.

True. Goes back to his first couple of years and "the best QB room in the country" or whatever he said. But I gave him grace for that statement because he's not an offensive coach.
26.09.2025 15:52 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0And maybe his statement of being "shocked" is more of a statement for the players to hear and know that he expects more of them than Kyle being truly shocked.
But I don't know, I just think it's such a weird thing to hear from a man who has forgotten more football expertise than I will ever know.
I think Utah teams tend to slightly overvalue their own talent when they play really good teams. Unless it's clear that there's a talent gap, I recall several head-scratchers over the years that show an odd disconnect.
Remember how Utah refused to play any zone against USC's NFL receiving core?
With all due respect:
Coach, you always have great lineman, you of all people should know if they will be challenged any given week. How are you shocked?
Anyone with eyes can see that Tech is really good in the trenches. Utah is good, but isn't the Denver Broncos. No one else was "shocked."
I love Coach Whitt. Love his personality, love what he did for the Utah program. Utah football isn't Utah football without him.
But I'm so convinced that he should have retired a few years ago.
He said he was shocked that Utah lost the LOS to Tech and frankly, I'm shocked that he's shocked.
To answer Jane's posed question, if I have learned anything about life or biology, it's that as intelligence increases, the capacity for cruelty also increases. It's actually right in line with what you'd expect, sadly.

10.09.2025 23:58 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Absolutely, no question. As far as Utah's qualifications, they are solidly on par with the middle of the Big 10 (I'd rank them 10 out 18.) But just being a potential mid to high middle Big 10 program is never going to be good enough to justify them being added to the conference imo.
31.08.2025 20:23 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I was thinking the same thing as I watched the game. I'm hoping Dampier has some early success on the ground so that teams bite on his ability to run and enable someone else to take over the ground game as we move through the season ๐
31.08.2025 18:00 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Not necessarily disagreeing, but how would a team qualify being in the Big 10 in your opinion? I can see reasons why Utah should and shouldn't be.

Good job morons. Your dumbass, pointless war against marginalized people just cost the state of Utah hundreds of millions of dollars.
