Sending our Afghan allies back to the Taliban would be a stain on America.
We can't rug-pull these brave people twice.
We must honor our promises.

We had a great City, County, State Townhall in West Ashley last night.
Thanks to all the folks who came out. Traffic congestion, sidewalks, traffic signals, and flooding were top citizen concerns.
We will certainly plan more of these events around the district 👍
City, County and State Townhall tomorrow in West Ashley.
Details on the flyer 👇
Heartbroken by the tragic loss of life in Texas.
The campers, families, and rescuers along the Guadalupe River are in our prayers.
This is a painful reminder: weather warning systems save lives. We must restore the National Weather Service.
Let’s be clear:
No Medicaid money in SC funds abortion. Full stop.
This ruling removes contraception, cancer screenings, and pregnancy tests for Medicaid patients.
Cutting essential care isn’t “pro-life.” It’s just cruel.
"No new wars"
So now, where does this end?
How does bombing Iran benefit US interest?
Our own intelligence says Iran does not have a nuclear weapon and they are not close to having a weapon.
Iran will retaliate. Americans will be the target.
This path was avoidable.
We are deeply grateful to Senator Mark Kelly, Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, Senators Deon Tedder and Ed Sutton, and all who showed up last night to demand courage from our lawmakers. The work continues. #Charleston10Years #CloseTheLoophole

Last night, we gathered with Sen. Mark Kelly, Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, and SC Democratic leaders to honor the Emanuel 9 and demand meaningful gun safety reform. This town hall was about action, community, and remembering those we lost. Read more:

4. In Charleston South Carolina, @captmarkkelly.bsky.social and his wife, former @gabbygiffords.bsky.social held a “Charleston Loophole” gun violence town hall with State Senators @deontedder.bsky.social and @edsutton.bsky.social

Packed house last night.
Very memorable event.
8 years ago, 9 Charleston firefighters gave everything in service to our city.
Their sacrifice at the Sofa Super Store fire reshaped our fire department—and our hearts.
We remember. We honor. We carry their legacy forward.

Gabby Giffords speaking at the Mother Emanuel 10 year observation.
Incredibly moving. There's a lot more love in this world than hate.
UPDATE: Sen. Tedder and I are thrilled to welcome Senator Mark Kelly & Gabby Giffords to next Tuesday’s Upper Peninsula Town Hall!
📍Location w/ RSVP
🕠 New time: 5:30PM, June 17
🎯 Focus: neighborhood updates + closing the Charleston Loophole

If that’s how they treat an elected official, imagine how they’ll treat you for speaking up.
This isn’t normal.
True leaders should be working overtime to deescalate the national tension.
10 years later, we still say their names. We still carry their legacy. The Emanuel Nine lit a path forward—let’s keep walking it. #EmanuelNine #CharlestonStrong

Tough talk is easy. Leadership is hard.
Trump is stoking chaos in CA, and some SC politicians are trying to ride the same wave with performative threats.
This weekend, be a grown-up. Deescalate. Defend free speech.
SC deserve leaders, not wannabe strongmen.
Insane attitude related to gun safety in SC:
High on drugs, passed out in a college parking garage with 'two AR15 pistols, three Glock handguns and the bevy of ammunition'
Charges dropped because of 'open carry'.
How does this make Charleston safer?

Governor Tim Walz.
I apricated his poignant remarks last week:
"None of us can afford to shy away right now from the hard conversations we need to have. Because we have to come to terms with the fact that the Democratic Party — the party of the working class — lost the working class"
Congressman Clyburn is needed in DC tomorrow for a critical vote.
Tomorrow’s West Ashley Town Hall will be rescheduled to a later date.
Also, Senator Tedder and I have a joint Town Hall coming up in June. Announcement dropping soon.
Since Senators Lindsey Graham and Tim Scott, and Congresswoman Nancy Mace refuses to show up for their constituents, WE WILL!
📍 6:00 PM, this coming Thursday, West Ashley — Register at the link below to receive the exact address.
I look forward to seeing you there!

Nancy Mace won’t hold a town hall in her district so @scdemocrats.bsky.social is hosting one with Congressman Jim Clyburn @repjamesclyburn.bsky.social & Senator Ed Sutton @edsutton.bsky.social www.mobilize.us/mobilize/eve...

Sounds like coddling to me. 🤷

We fought like hell until they rang the bell.
Today, SC Senate Dems played smart, ran the clock and blocked some terrible bills.
Solid and effective crew.
Several SC international students just had their visas reinstated after sudden, unjust revocations.
This cruelty was met with pushback—and it worked.
SC Democrats are standing up for those targeted by fear-based policies. We won’t back down.

Imagine being so fragile you think a library is a threat.
CC: Mace the SC disgrace
Historic and somber day in SC:
For the first time in 150 years, the Senate voted to remove a statewide official.
Curtis Loftis failed to protect our finances.
The buck stops here.

That's a real decision a lot of folks are making. If we don't get ahead of this problem, we are going to loose more good folks like yourself.
