This work delivered meaningful year-over-year progress, including a 31% reduction in FRA reportable train accident rate – our best in over a decade – a 15% reduction in FRA reportable injury rate and 1 million man-hours injury free, powered by our nearly 20,000 railroaders working together.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT: The STB has 30 days to review the application to determine whether the application is complete or request additional information. The full regulatory review process will be in multiple phases and the goal is to complete the transaction by early 2027. Until the STB completes its review and the merger closes, NS and UP remain separate companies. As this process moves forward, we’ll continue to share updates along the way.
