i'm sorry you didn't want to see transformers one, but neither of those points are relevant to transformers one at all.

the other thing i'm targeting is that the lead actor of ares is a known pedophile and sex pest.. even not considering the MOST recent allegations, hes been known to be a creep who does horrible things to his coworkers for YEARS. not to mention that every project he touches falls flat. including ares

you can't talk about lack of media literacy without talking about how many people can't fathom a fandom based entirely out of analysis, fanworks, etc, completely divorced from the idea of "new content", because they don't *want* to analyze or create. they only want to consume.

there are two things i'm targeting here. one of them is the idea that "more content" is always superior, even if it sucks and you're morally opposed to it. because people *do not know* how to be fans of something that isn't actively updating.

when i say tron fans bought tickets to ares to "get more tron content", i specifically mean that people put money in the pockets of a known serial sex pest and pedophile because they wanted "more tron content" - when tron itself never needed that.

maybe you were bothered by people saying everyone should see transformers one, but it isn't really the same as tron fans saying everyone should see ares. there was never any possibility that transformers itself wouldn't get any more content if transformers one flopped. just that continuity.

you can't really have a similar discussion about media being better as a standalone with transformers like you can with tron. transformers as a toyline never really died out the way tron did. compared to tron, transformers has a pretty continuous history as a toy ad tv/comic series.

the thing is, with tron, you *can* make the argument that it is better as a cult classic. because until tron legacy, tron actually was one. the only major installment to the series was a PC shooter game in 2003, which was, tbh, also a cult classic. incredibly niche and immediately outdone by halo 2

someone reblogged a post i made about not seeing tron ares and was like "this is just like when everyone wanted to see transformers one-" it. it really isn't. tron is not the same kind of 80's media as transformers. like in any way shape or form
