A couple of photos from a recent hike in the Eagle Cap Wilderness area in northeastern Oregon. #legorelake #eaglecap
A bit of rain on my run today. #wallawalla
My 5 year old electric mower. My previous gas mower lasted twenty years and never caught fire. Bought a cheap gas mower to replace this one. #egomower
20 mile hike along the Snake River today. Really beautiful. photos.app.goo.gl/Hc3LgwQFdMFx...

People that know more employment law than me, are the people at DOGE open to civil liability if bad things happen because of their indiscriminate firings? Or, are they indemnified by the federal government? I think there's _a lot_ of messy litigation coming that will last for years.
I'm giving an in-class test today to my Partial Differential Equations class and tomorrow to my Calculus III class. After years of moving away from in-class assessment, generative AI has pushed me in the other direction. #math #genAI
Yeah. It's a tradeoff between convenience and precision. For me it works. If a new person follows me that I know, I don't need to update my list. The Mutuals feed picks it up automagically.
I found a better solution that seems to be built in to bluesky. Go to the "Feeds" link on the left side bar and pin the "Mutuals" feed. This is a feed that lets you see posts of people that follow you. It updates automatically as people follow you. A better option than a custom list.
Not to me. But cool that you're already familiar with the work.
Interesting. Hope it works out. Sadly, the beta test is only for iPhone, not android.
Just finished Ted Chiang's short story collection "Exhalation: Stories". Some excellent stories that explore free will, memory, AI among other ideas. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exhalat... I've been on a short story kick recently.
It is well and truly winter today. #whitmancollege
I've always had a weird little spot in my heart for Roger Waters' 1987 album 𝘙𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘰 𝘒.𝘈.𝘖.𝘚. Listening to it today for the first time in a while and am shocked at how much the 3rd song 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘉𝘦 fits the current times--nearly 40 years later. open.spotify.com/track/2I5CHk...
Our annual birthday picture. At the Redondo Beach Superbowl 10k finish line.
Math and science night at Edison Elementary. We had a blast!
How I feel.
Exactly, why does mother nature put us through these trials? why? 😭
I was hoping we were skipping snow this winter.
Apropos of nothing, I can't tell you how many times I waited in line for concert tickets at a Sam Goody's that was in the green box in the 80's. The red circled X is where the plane crashed in Phila on Jan 31. Sad to think about traveling all the way to CHOP for treatment and dying on the way home.
I'll put that on my list of things to investigate.
Along Mill Creek this evening during my run. We've had a nice string of clear, cool days here in Walla Walla.
My fb archive was about 3/4 of a gigabyte. If yours is anything comparable, that will take a while. Weird about the blocked messages. I always assumed fb dm's between friends were uncensored.
It was an interesting experience deleting my fb account (20 years). It's very difficult to figure out how to do it. And, once I did figure it out, it still won't be permanent for a month. Lot's of gamesmanship.
You're welcome. I've been digging into the platform a bit and it's far more customizable than fb. The downside is that there's a bit of a learning curve. I'll try to keep sharing what I learn.
Up in the Blue Mountain foothills east of Walla Walla, WA.
Create a custom feed for your friends. Here's a howto video I made. For folks coming from facebook and wanting to keep track of what your friends are talking about, this shows how to make a custom feed with just those friends. youtu.be/8kQUDEZaKGk

I wrote an n-body simulator in p5js and initialized it with 3 equidistant "planets". It stays stable for a while, but eventually spins apart in a beautifully chaotic way. Enjoy. youtu.be/nzu2opoEa2w #chaos #3body #p5js
