Threatening to exterminate a country of 90 million and more.....You know what is appropriate to say about such a man.

Yes, I agree. It's like saying that we deserved drive-by shootings as children because a few Detroiters were drug dealers. And, f*ck that.

Collective guilt is a nonstarter. And children NEVER "deserve it." Not Jewish children. Not Muslim children. Not Black children. Not ANY child on this planet.

Every now and then, it's worth reminding yourself that every single crisis of Trump 2.0 -- the economic downturn, the chaos in our cities, the rising health crisis, the foreign wars -- has been a direct result of their own actions.

If they'd done nothing at all, they'd be coasting comfortably.

Me in January: I shall buy a PS5 and play a pretty game to distract myself from the cares of the world

Me in March, battle-worn from fighting robots and cultists, gazing into the abyss after contemplating the hubris of tech CEOs and the fragility of science, surviving the Colorado wilderness: oh no

In 1931, Albert Einstein and W.E.B. DuBois wrote to each other in German; DuBois asked Einstein to write an article for THE CRISIS.

DuBois translated it and wrote as intro:

"He is a brilliant advocate of disarmament and world Peace and he hates race prejudice because as a Jew he knows what it is."

Pete Hegseth Questions What Girls Were Doing In School To Begin With WASHINGTON—Saying critics of the missile strike that killed at least 175 civilians were dodging a fundamental question, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Friday demanded to know what girls were doing ...

“In all this talk about who was responsible and how this happened, are we just going to ignore the fact that girls were allowed to learn?” said Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth

The areas Israel are striking are deep into Beirut, they're civilian areas and extend far beyond any bombing campaign since the 2006 war. Large chunks of the south are on their way to occupation, this has reinvigorated Hezbollah and left nearly a million people displaced. Absolutely indefensible.

Our local media is doing in-depth reporting of not only the event, but also, how this has affected Jewish and Muslim communities here.

This is why local media matters.

Our local news coverage of the attack on the temple in West Bloomfield is light years ahead of national coverage.

Detroit, Dearborn, and SE Michigan is not utopia. However, there is a very long history of interfaith cooperation here. Many of us mourn for and with our Jewish and Muslim neighbors.

Uber and Instacart argue that Seattle’s Ordinance compels pure, content-based speech in violation of the First Amendment in two ways. First, the notice requirement compels speech by forcing the companies to communicate their deactivation policies and decisions in writing and make them accessible to workers. Second, the deactivation standards regulate that speech’s content by requiring that the companies’ policies be, in the words of the Ordinance, “reasonably related” to “safe and efficient operations.”

Uber and Instacart argued (unsuccessfully) that a requirement that they notify drivers of their deactivation policies violates the First Amendment. As a First Amendment scholar, my view on this question is best summed up as: "oh come the fuck on"

Zionists have worked so hard to convince everyone that “Jewish = Zionist/Israel supporter“ and have done this while co-signing violence and as anti-Zionist Jews have long said, that propaganda makes Jews less safe on top of justifying the Israel’s violence against Palestinians and other Arabs

Lots of folks have pointed out all of the banana pants stuff about this tweet, but I guess my question would be, "and then what?" You can research & write your dissertation super fast, then what? What is the destination you're trying to get to? A job? Good luck with that. A book? Ok...? Then what?

Trump single-handedly united all kinds of Iranians, even those you wouldn't have thought to see in Quds Day marches.
An Iranian woman holding a placard, in Tehran:
"I am too a protester, but child killers & human flesh eaters do not bring democracy to my country. I sacrifice my life for Iran."

Also I’ve seen so many signs of women who participated in the original protests being like fuck this shit

On the other hand, 15% give only a "don't want" children reason (just don't want, want to do other things, or don't like kids). The evidence weighs in on the side of positive reasons for not having children, more than frustrated hopes and dreams.

If environment and cost were driving childlessness, you would have a lot more people who really want to have kids saying they aren't because of those reasons - but that is very rare. 82% of people who social/ environmental reasons also don’t want children.

The main thing is that the three "don't want to" reasons dominate, and are much more likely than environment/social issues and cost of children to be the only reason people give. lots of people mention environment/social issues as reasons not to have kids, but only 1% give those reasons alone.

New from me: Most Americans who aren’t having children don’t want to (and not because of the environment).

To look at the overlapping reasons not to have children, I got the Pew data, constructed categories, and made a table of combinations.

An effective long term strategy for those who care about independent and credible news would be to fund nonprofits to enable nonpartisan journalism. We can see where CNN is going, we need more ProPublicias.
