Hmm. Transit City was deliberately destroyed by Miller's successor on purely ideological grounds. I'm genuinely not sure if it's fair to call that a failure?

Why? I sometimes wish that Chow was willing to expend more energy and political capital fighting back against Ford too, but we knew that wasn't her style when we elected her. There's nothing incongruous about backing her and campaigning against Ford.

I lived in a smallish Canadian city, but it had an airport and an armed forces base, and probably some other infrastructure that would have gotten us pasted a few times over. I took some comfort in knowing it would be quick.

remembering more and more that when Reagan was elected, the first time, my grade whatever teacher told us that we would be in a nuclear war by the end of the year. which wasn't true, obviously, but the actual fallout just seems to have taken longer. yes, I am that old. gives me context.

And learning that would be the outcome to hope for! Because if we didn't die immediately, we'd die in the hours, days, or weeks to come, probably in a lot more pain.

Seems like a lot to lay on pre-teen children, but on the other hand it was a fairly reasonable concern given how much he ratcheted up the tension.

I'm rooting for the Blue Jays but, yeah, Yamamoto is an astonishingly good pitcher. The Jays can't touch the ball tonight and that's usually a strength of theirs.

Yeah, a few things are happening at once here: There's been a lot of provincial overreach into the federal sphere recently; Doug specifically keeps going rogue on the trade war; BUT it's not clear the ad was a bad idea or Carney's approach is better; also Trump was clearly looking for a pretext.

The Dodgers are a great team and they're going to adjust and come back tough. But for now I'm just going to bask in the warm glow of an 11-4 win tonight.
