and so do wonderfully talented people who’ve spent thousands of hours to study & write books — no small task — with the highest respect for kids and the craft.

One year post publication and I still forget other people actually read the book until they come up to me. I think the book has come to exist as two separate things for me: the book I wrote that means something to me and the book that other people read and how they interpret it.
