Ford, set to ban speed cameras, muses about cameras to fight crime instead | CBC News Ontario Premier Doug Ford is set to soon ban speed cameras across the province, but is now musing about "cameras on crime" instead to target stolen cars and home invasion suspects.

Go on a walk and see how many people have illegal plate covers to avoid cameras/tolls or accountability.

Make having an obstructed plate a parking violation, then parking enforcement could help enforce. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Ontario needs more automated enforcement, not less. Automated enforcement for blocking intersections, turn/entry prohibitions, and bus lanes. These cause congestion or block transit and automated enforcement would help a lot. The police have other things to do than traffic enforcement.

Speed camera penalties are only monetary penalties. A speeding ticket from a police officer results in demerit points (16km/h+ over) which impact your driving record and insurance. Hopefully police do speed enforcement if cameras are removed.

401 tunnel yet the highways 11 and 17 are dangerous and mostly 2 lane. The 400 still isn’t finished to Sudbury. Crazy crazy.

Canada should further move away from the US and be like most of the world by finishing metrication. It would take some public education but maybe people would be on board. That’s my take of the day.

Kingston Transit updating its data to show the detour on Transit and onboard stop announcements and screens! Fantastic! It’s the small things that make a great rider experience. Much better than having to decode a text service alert. I shouldn’t be shocked that they did this, should be standard.

Maybe we should bring back trolleybuses! I think we all want a subway though, but bus lanes can be done by next year.

Probably many visitors will be from places with great BRT networks and wonder why there are not dedicated BRT stations.

Alright, I'll say it: people in buses ARE better than people in cars, Stephen

As for loading and parking, these should be accommodated on the side streets. It was disappointing that this was not done as part of these RapidTO projects.

In Chow's 2014 Mayoral run, one of slogans was "Better bus service. Now." Toronto has a city-wide frequent bus network, but lets it get stuck in traffic. Every route that has 10 min or better service should have transit priority. Bus lanes save money for everyone and will get people moving.

The parked car almost has personhood or protected species status in Toronto.

It seems like everyone was participating in-person (surprised Nunziata hasn't commented on this yet). They were being too loud then all disappeared.

Did you participate in the Webbwood count game? Count the number of people you see when passing through Webbwood.

Does Oshawa have some of the most restrictive park hours? All parks except one have these hours.

There really needs to be highlight reels, funny ones.

And what if the person the first time only exceeds the limit by say 10km/h then the second time shortly after by 40km/h?

That would be useful. And maybe adding a 10min time limit for any ceremonial presentations or removing them entirely. Oh and starting and resuming on time.

It seems like every Council meeting gets extended on the Thursday. Maybe they should consider starting earlier (9am), taking a shorter lunch break (1:30 instead of 2pm), or meeting Tu-Th. It doesn’t make much sense to always extend and bring on the silliness and rush of an evening session.

With $60m on the line, Mayor Chow should use her strong-mayor powers to get this through without the compromise. I don't like the powers, but they are here. If the compromise goes through, it should be vetoed and the original proposal introduced under the powers.

Maybe we will see the use of the strong-mayor powers to get this through rather than accepting a compromise.

I don’t understand the reason for the opposition. The neighbourhood has 0 sidewalks, the sidewalks are being installed on one side of the street and on the side of the road (little parking impacts on street or in driveways). All the common concerns seem to be addressed.

I am surprised by the people here to support Mayor Leal, including those who haven’t read the report or live in PTBO. Some/many municipalities don’t allow delegations on IC complaints. I believe some ICs have suggested delegations not be allow on their reports. That would probably be better.

I get not wanting to consolidate candidates (but wish for it). But money, volunteers, and attention should be focused on defeating the PCs not each other. All you are doing otherwise is helping the PCs.
