Three councillors walked out of a closed session on Wednesday saying the discussion should have been public. Mayor Leal says the meeting was in compliance with the Municipal Act and while Chief Betts said it was concerning that the three voted on the motion without hearing all available information.
05.09.2025 17:20 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Screenshot of Peterborough CAO Jasbir Raina's LinkedIn post which reads: "If you lack the courage to say βNOβ when there is an absolute ethical need to do so, then you cannot truly speak about leadership. Leadership is not about pleasing others or avoiding discomfort. Authentic leadership is about standing for the right thing, even when it is unpopular, inconvenient, or painful. At the end of the day, leadership is not measured by approval but by INTEGRITY."
I know Jasbir isn't posting these ironically, but if he was it would be some quality satire. Real leaders avoid the media, bulldoze encampments, and don't care if constituents disapprove. Democracy 101 guys. Nothing to see here.

03.09.2025 21:00 β π 3 π 4 π¬ 0 π 0This was never meant to provide shelter, it's to justify the further disenfranchisement of some of the most vulnerable in our community through enforcement and evictions. Councillors are not being consulted and costs for enforcement are unknown to date. A report should be public later this month.
