OK, here it is. Come work with me at the University of Liverpool making ALL THE AI models from ALL THE prokaryote pangenome data. Heck, we will make models from ALL the pangenomes, even eukaryotes!!! (link below👇) 1/4
A reminder you/your lab can support FlyBase at Cambridge through the following link. Every bit helps. Please share if you yourself can't donate.

Good luck Helen with whatever you decide to do next! You'll be really missed at the University
New Independent Fellowship position in Microbiology to launch your lab in our department @johninnescentre.bsky.social (UK). We are conducting a broad search in the area of plant-associated microbial interactions. Message me if you have any questions.
Apply here: www.jic.ac.uk/vacancies/in...
Next up is the structural and functional proteomics with @scheltemalab.bsky.social opening the session with his talk crosslinking for the masses
Our first plenary session starts with @slavov-n.bsky.social telling us about single cell proteomics and moving it to biological function
We are kicking off with the bioinformatics session. Georg Kustacher talks to us about protein covariation to advance the functional annotation of the human proteome. #BSPR2025
Andy talking about PTMeXchange at #BSPR2025. A collaboration between multiple teams PRIDE, Andy's Group, Uniprot and PeptideAtlas.
A good summary of what's going on. If you have the means, you can donate already to the Cambridge side. If you can spread the word, please do. FlyBase touches every field of bio research: cancer, neurology, development, immunity, genetics, evolution, etc...

Hotel booking has no map function. So needed to look each one up on separate browser. For women this is & H&S issue.
And no where on list of reasons of why we didn't choose cheapest flights/hotels was *our agenda* or SAFETY.
Yes I'm still cross.
VEuPathDB conducted a survey at the end of 2024 to assess the importance of our resources and to explore potential funding strategies following funding changes. We got 1,862 responses! Huge thanks to everyone who took this survey! We will share the results and survey report this week.
People often ask about this and worth reiterating: there are individual PI's labs that cost more than bioRxiv, which serves the whole world.
We are working towards a long-term, stable, distributed funding strategy. It's trival $$.
Reminder: Research $10^5 journal paper $10^3, preprint $10^1.
At #ECFG17, like at all major scientific conferences worldwide, the talks highlight how science thrives on global collaboration. Borders don’t define discovery - diversity and cooperation do. Meanwhile, U.S. policies seem to be moving in the opposite direction.
Come visit the FungiDB booth at #ecfg17 and meet the @veupathdb.bsky.social team
This looks great, looking forward to trying it out for our genome annotation projects 😀
Thank you to all submitting user comments on #FungiDB record pages. This is a great way to share your expertise with others & showcase relevant PubMedIDs. Submit a user comment & pick up a free "Got fungus?" mug. Submit more than 1 to get a chance of winning a T-shirt! @ecfg172025.bsky.social

Want to get your hands on this stylish mug? It’s easy! Simply share your knowledge about your favourite gene, and this fabulous mug is yours! Don’t miss out! fungidb.org/fungidb/app/...
Feedly just ranked The Proteomics Show as the top Proteomics Podcast of 2025! The fact it is the only proteomics podcast…they…umm… list on their platform doesn’t make it less cool. @benneely.com Thanks @us-hoop.bsky.social for continuing to sponsor the show! Might be a season 7 announcement soon?
3rd March deadline!
1 post = G8
2 posts = G7 (postdoc)
Join us to work, using AI for genome annotation
Please RP!
Now seems a good time to mention that I haven't yet filled a postdoc position in phylogenetic methods. If you just lost your job, need something temporary, and know something about bioinformatics/statistics/evolution, talk to me.
No job ad yet, but I'll be hiring a postdoc at Purdue in population genetics/quantitative genetics/genomics in plants. DM if you have relevant experience and are potentially interested.
Most universities will take on someone with outside funding, and many will automatically give them a TT position at the end (in my school this applies to 5 year fellowships www.sheffield.ac.uk/science/rese...). Schemes like the Wellcome Trust or MRC CDA are open to all irrespective of nationalty.
My university currently has a significant recruiting initiative fellowsandchairs.birmingham.ac.uk
Seeing US science being vandalised is devastating 💔
For anyone in need of a new job: we have several postdoc and PhD positions in computational genomics, cancer epigenetics and immunology available here in Oxford, UK. We still care about DEI, offer 3y+ contracts and do cool science - get in touch!
Come join us!
3 new posts, using AI, structural bioinformatics and genomics. To work with me, @danielrigden.bsky.social and @veupathdb.bsky.social team.
3 years initially, extendable to 5. Please RP.

🎉 I'm starting my own lab at EMBL-EBI (Cambridge, UK; June 2025) 🎉
We will focus on identifying and characterizing chemical hazards to humans and ecosystems using computational biology methods.
I am beginning the search for two postdocs now - stay tuned for more details!

As a recent recipient of this funding, I can highly recommend it as a means of broadening experiences and networks to support current and future research.
