I'll be teaching a 1-hour seminar course for first time graduate teaching assistants in math. Any recommendations on quick/digestible articles or excerpts for such students? Just things with easily implementable practices for folks who may or may not have taught before.

For context, the problem is asking things like "at which point is f(x), f'(x), f''(x) greatest/least?"

I've been spending the summer adding alt text to various online graphical problems, but I could definitely use assistance if any of y'all have experience. When I applied to Baylor for undergrad I had to choose a denomination of faith, which I did not have or know anything about (raised Catholic, very lapsed). I chose something called "Disciples of Christ" because that sounded like something the university wld like. To this day I've no idea what DoC is

UW: Women in STEM, Latina Youth Conferences “likely not allowed” under new DEI guidelines Both conferences were set to celebrate their 25th anniversary in 2025, but fall afoul of a right-wing crackdown on diversity programs. The annual Shepard Symposium could survive but is “under review.”

It's so sad and stupid.

When I started my PhD at UWyo I was excited specifically because it was a bastion of inclusion and diversity. That was in 2020, just five years ago.

Now they're are cancelling Women in STEM and Latina Youth conferences because it would show "preferential treatment."

Now that we see how easy it is to gut federal institutions, how about we abolish ICE next time we get the chance?

I've never been nor would do I ever want to be an administrator so I can't fully understand what goes into it but if I had to tell a teacher to remove this sign I'd probably start reevaluating things.
