Reminder - tomorrow (Tuesday, 2/24) is **not** the day to come in to #WSUPullman's Holland & Terrell Libraries for some early reading, studying, or whatever -- it's gonna be **loud**! It will be back to normal by 9am, however.

A spacious library study area with large floorβtoβceiling windows overlooking other WSU campus buildings. The room has patterned carpet in shades of gray and crimson, several upholstered chairs arranged in small groups, and a row of seating along the windows. A few people sit at tables on the right side of the room. Two large columns are positioned near the center of the space.
Next Tuesday (2/24) it's going to be *loud* in the #WSUPullman Terrell Library early in the morning! Cores will be drilled to allow for flush power and Ethernet for our new Cougar Commons space. It should be done by 9am, but if not drilling will continue early on the 25th.

As WSU President Betsy Cantwell notes in her letter this issue, a primary value of a WSU, or any college, education is a βliteracy of learningβ so students can navigate change and evolving knowledge beyond graduation.
βItβs the ability to evaluate information critically, manage your time and resources, communicate clearly, and take initiative without waiting for direction,β she writes.
The presidentβs insights hold true even for those of us who graduated many years ago. WSU taught me and generations of Cougs how to read well, write clearly, understand science and philosophy, and build skills to use throughout our lives.
The learning doesnβt just end. Itβs crucial that we continue to sharpen our many literacy skills to grasp an ever more complex world.
As #WSU President Betsy Cantwell notes in her letter this issue, literacy is "the ability to evaluate information critically, manage your time and resources, communicate clearly, and take initiative without waiting for direction.β

YouTube video by Herres Studio
Mt St Helens Pullman May 18, 1980
If I had to name the one thing I found this year that blew me away, it'd be the video from Pullman and the WSU campus of the approaching ash cloud on May 18, 1980.
Considering this wasn't uploaded to YouTube until this year, the 45-year wait was worth it. Keep it on for some bonus ABC coverage.
