@mrjamesob.bsky.social Nuclear power is a brilliant way to make our electricity even more expensive. Today’s wholesale price is £88/MWh. If Hinkley C were to open tomorrow, it would cost £130/MWh. It won’t open for another 8 years, by which time the indexed cost will be £160+. Nuclear is ruinous.

Maybe there was a certain attraction for Americans in hiring a Government of amateurs - non-politicians - but this, I’m afraid, is the inevitable consequence. Ten-year-old me and my mates could do better than this.

Disappointing to hear the PM referring to the ‘UK/US special relationship this morning’. Such as it might ever have existed, it certainly has not done so for many decades. We delude and debase ourselves by pretending that the big kid in the playground is our mate. He is anything but.
