The β€˜crazy story’ of how the best basketball recruit in the country decided to play at BYU Here's β€˜crazy story’ of how the best basketball recruit in the country decided to play at BYU.

New Cougar head coach Kevin Young’s NBA pedigree has helped him successfully sign three of the top recruits in BYU basketball history in his first few months on the job.

Here’s the "crazy story" of the Cougars’ pitch to Dybantsa. www.sltrib.com/sports/byu-c...

So why did he choose BYU over basketball bluebloods like North Carolina and Kansas? He will reportedly make more than $5 million during what will likely be his only season in Provo.

But money wasn’t the only reason ...

New Utah academy is a basketball powerhouse with ties to a boarding school shut down by the state Utah Prep got the top basketball recruit in the country β€” and then fell behind on its bills. Here's what the southern Utah academy plans to do now.

The school gave AJ’s father, Ace, an ownership stake, @sltrib.com reported earlier this month. AJ would also get $600,000 in NIL money.

AJ was raised in Massachusetts and started on his high school’s varsity team as an eighth grader. He later moved to attend an elite prep school in California.

Then, last summer, he surprised many by announcing his transfer to Utah Prep in the small town of Hurricane.

This is where Sexton is when you hear first hear the whistle, which means Hardy was certainly calling for it a second or more before this. Might still be a bad decision but it’s less obviously tanky than most want to think.

BYU surprised everyone, then let itself down. Now the Cougars wonder β€˜what could have been.’ BYU head coach Kalani Sitake can be proud of a 10-win season, but "what could have been" with the Big 12 title and College Football Playoff will linger for a lot longer

What do you make of this BYU football season?

Getting to a bowl game would've been considered a huge accomplishment before the year began. A few months later, missing out on the Big 12 title game feels like a failure.

Reality is surely somewhere in the middle.
