I can do that later today
07.10.2025 11:35 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Were I still in my PhD program, this would be interesting.
07.10.2025 04:09 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I've bought them, started before I found out about his community attitude. I can share a Google Drive folder with you. I'm reviewing to see how accurate he is. I'm being very very critical.

30.09.2025 23:21 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This sounds more scientifically valid than anything else I've heard.
30.09.2025 15:11 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I'm sorry to hear that. I hope y'all are ok afterwards.
30.09.2025 15:03 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I can't imagine using that phrase in an academic paper, so I'm glad it's being called out.

25.09.2025 01:43 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0If I were in the area, I'd gladly join. I'm working on a quarto document using R right now.
25.09.2025 01:40 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I'm interested in reading the papers as they come out.
24.09.2025 13:29 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I'm unable to answer that question for fear of reprisals
24.09.2025 00:14 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0If you're interested in the website, it's drddatascience.com My blog is linked in there as well. I never thought to do a tutorial as to how I created it.
23.09.2025 11:27 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0If it were me, I'd likely impute, then subset so I have the data needed.
22.09.2025 19:39 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The other idea I've been kicking around is updating my blog: drddatacience.com/blog talking about my dissertation. Many friends in the 911 community are interested, but the language is too academic and my data friends don't know as much about 911 centers and their data. Thoughts?
22.09.2025 17:24 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I would haunt anyone foolish enough to think of that for me.
22.09.2025 17:07 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I'd seen that post. I have a few issues with Valeriy and his blanket statements and his insistence that only Conformal Prediction is the right answer. I've thought about going through his books carefully to see what else lies in wait.
22.09.2025 16:10 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I hadn't seen that article. However, you delicately addressed my thoughts of him being "difficult" much better than I could. He had a post on LinkedIn over the weekend that declared that an arXiv preprint describing a new model would replace ARIMA. I said and believe that's too early to suggest.
22.09.2025 16:08 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I use it as a daily driver for my blog and my report building. Absolutely love it!
22.09.2025 15:08 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0What do you do when you MUST forecast something with data that isn't amenable to forecasting? I work with really challenging data, so it's in the back of my mind when I'm reading books or papers. I think some of his opinion pieces are meant to stir the pot, so I'm playing along with my data.
22.09.2025 15:07 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I've read the first two chapters and it's not a bad read. If you follow him on LinkedIn or Medium, you'll note that he's convinced that anything other than Confirmation Prediction isn't good enough, but when he started discussing forecastability in chapter 2, I had some ideas....
22.09.2025 15:05 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Many ideas this weekend, should I propose a book idea covering Quarto and its many uses? Start up a project covering Manokhin's book, valeman.gumroad.com/l/MasteringM... and translate some of the code into R where I can? Thoughts from my data friends?
22.09.2025 14:18 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Been reading a new book on time series forecasting and I think I'm going to follow along with many of the techniques the author demonstrates because I've worked on some challenging data that I question how forecastable it is. Will make some posts about it in future
19.09.2025 15:53 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0For all my new followers, I'll apologize in advance for being boring. However, I'll try to do better. If you're interested in what I'm thinking, here's my blog: drddatascience.com/blog. I write a lot about the intersection between 911 and data science. Check it out and comment!!
15.09.2025 13:45 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0As am I. I'm having a lot more fun here than I would have there.

12.09.2025 03:23 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I can cite a recent case where that's true for me. I applied for a position 5 times and in the final attempt, they selected a different candidate. It was a blessing because I've been freed up to pursue my passion for data science in 9-1-1 centers. It really worked out that way for me.
