I had a vague memory of reading this book as a child in the mid 1970s. I couldn't recall any details other than an old ivory puzzle, a lost piece and a reservoir low water level in a summer drought. After a bit of searching on the Internet my patience was rewarded and my mystery book located

"The Map that Came to Life" was a favourite childhood book I recall from the 1970s. With a bit of help from AI I've reimagined 2025 style. That book really appealed to my imagination, each page showing a section of map and how it would have looked. Anyone else remember it?

I know it's morbid, but I can't believe it's 18 years since my wife died from breast cancer at the age of 43. She'd have been 61 today and the proud mother of 3 wonderful children. She's missed seeing them grow and mature into the young adults they are today. And of course they've missed so much too

So whilst it's fun climbing an e-bike in the immediate short term, it leaves me feeling I'm missing the buzz and satisfaction that can only be achieved by putting yourself into a zone that's uncomfortable.

Yes,I get that having loaned an e-bike a few times. I'm just addicted to the dopamine, endorphin, anandamide & serotonin released when you've pushed yourself hard to beat a tough climb. I feel a bit flat and deflated when I've done the equivalent with an extra 300w assist. Sure it's fun but lacking

Quiet, atmospheric and poignant. This book is more about painting a picture about a small knot of people than knitting a plot. Very enjoyable though in a Cider With Rosie or A Month in the Country way.
