February 2026 brought exceptionally wet conditions and severe flooding to parts of western and southern Europe, while globally it was the fifth-warmest February on record. Arctic sea ice extent was third-lowest for the month.

❄ The Feb. 2026 #C3S Climate Bulletin reports that Arctic sea ice extent was 5% below average – the third lowest on record for February. Antarctic sea ice extent was close to average, a sharp change from the much-below-average extents of the past four years.

The production of ERA6, coming up in 2027, has started. The next‑generation climate reanalysis from #CopernicusClimate will offer >2× finer resolution than ERA5, a coupled ocean–atmosphere–wave model, improved data access & more.
