An AI-bot supposed to speak from the perspective of a queer black woman tells on itself 🧵
"Probably the biggest challenge that we face with #AI is that AI purports to answer our questions, to solve our curiosities. We have to make sure that how it’s adopted leaves room for continuing to ask questions, explore, to pose and solve problems." www.seanmichaelmorris.com/ai-humans-an...
Last week, in a panel discussion, I mentioned an approach to pedagogy that’s been in my mind for a while … so here’s The (very simple) Pedagogy of Letting Go lydiaarnold.net/2024/11/24/t...
Very excited to introduce our latest research: "CIVICS: Building a Dataset for Examining Culturally-Informed Values in Large Language Models." Access the pre-print here: huggingface.co/papers/2405....
A starter pack of humanities folks who migrated over to the tech/data/ml industry.
Happy to add anyone else!

If you teach large classes, like 100’s of students, highly recommend this episode of #TeaForTeaching. Great details about choreography of active learning. Excellent advice about assessment, like giving students choice about who to work with, what to write about, and who to write for.

Do you already know the great work of our colleagues from #Qumran -digital? You can read nearly all Hebrew/Aramaic texts with a critical apparatus. They also have a lexicon (not finished yet). The best function is the translation via mouseover.

Bryan! Good to see you!
3. I’ve written (and still do, time permitting) ancient mobility and itinerancy, especially in the Roman Empire and the formative and ideological impact of travel on ancient Christianity and Judaism. I learn a lot from queer theory, Black studies, and migration studies about mobility and fugitivity.
2. I teach religious studies at the undergrad level, particularly Christian origins and global/religious ethics.
Hi new followers! Glad to be part of the migration. I have a few roles that will pop up here:
1. I’m a curriculum/instructional design admin, interested in UDL, Ed tech, and authentic assessment. Currently looking into alternative credentials, and also effective and ethical use of AI (if it exists).
Now that "scale is all we need" has predictably faltered...
1. Small AI models often perform better in context.
2. Obsession w bigness has bad consequences, from climate, to power concentration, to research capture.

Latino/a/e and Latin American Biblical Interpretation sessions this year focus on legacies: Dussel and Pixley, José Esteban Muñoz, and Fernando Segovia. Join us as we think about the past and future. I look forward to seeing many of you at #AARSBL2024
I’m genuinely shocked to see the culture wars destroying the state flagships. And, sorry, they are. It will take years to see the full scale of the damage and decades to try to repair it. They think they can contain the attacks to humanities but that’s not how it works.
Great to hear how you’re doing this. In meetings and panels,
I’m trying to let my admin know that my students are concerned.
When they learn of the environmental impact, many of them say “turn it all off.”
If you are going to AAR/SBL next weekend come to the panel on my book God's Ghostwriters. Featuring responses from @christycobb.bsky.social @zafulotus.bsky.social Matthew Larsen Katherine Shaner and Jennifer Glancy. Sunday November 24 @ 4pm Upper Level 2 of the Convention Center
I’ll be at AAR/SBL in San Diego. Please invite me to your fun parties or chill hangouts!
Hey all. I’m here. Will probably lurk like I did in the bird place, so I hope you’re all entertaining!
