This, right here, is messed up and seriously troubling.

Pt 4-final---While that’s 12 too many, truth be told, literally millions of New Yorkers (more than four million daily) take the train each day. Only a few thousand drive. Do the math.

And for those who cry the subway is unsafe, here’s a fact. In 2024, 250 people were killed by automobile violence in New York City. Of those, 115 were pedestrians mowed down by cars or trucks. Thousands more were injured. Meanwhile, 12 people were killed by violence on the subway in 2024. (pt 3)

For more than a century, we’ve surrendered far too much of our precious public space—nyc streets—to automobiles free of charge. Congestion pricing is just one component in an even more grand loosely organized effort to make the city a more pedestrian, bicyclist and mass transit-centric place. -Pt 2

Congestion Pricing has finally arrived. Prediction; In 10 or more years, New Yorkers will look back on the shrill outcry and opposition to the new toll with amusement. CP Opponents will get used to the new reality and in the long term, likely evolve to appreciate the reduced traffic chaos. (pt. 1)
