I think there will be many more of these climate-related disasters coming in the future, and we cannot be asking “how did they vote?” before helping vulnerable people-or discouraging people from giving to GoFundMe’s bc we don’t like the state the disaster happened in. That’s creating more division.

All states have different populations, LGBTQ, BIPOC, immigrants, women, children, etc. who may be impacted by Republican policies and who didn’t vote for those policies. Red states are notorious for gerrymandering and disenfranchising

The population of a state isn’t a monolith. 21,615 people out of 40,059 registered voters in Kerr County, Texas voted for Trump out of a total population of 53,915. And you want to hold the entire County responsible for those people’s vote.
That’s 40.08% of the county. 59.92% had nothing to do w/ it

I’m going to say this in no uncertain terms.
If you see a Go Fund Me to help disaster victims, many of whom were children, and your first thought is to detract from the fundraiser or say some version of “they get what they voted for” bc of the state they live in, you are no better than MAGA.

I’m having a hard time imagining someone making that comparison in good faith if they are familiar with dementia patients. Someone dressing differently and going by a different name/pronouns, and expressing parts of their personality they hid/repressed around you previously ≠ dementia.

I am still in shock, especially when she flares up and starts shouting and gets into a Hormone Frenzy.... I too chose her name and am simply not sure if this is really who she wants to be.... But l've realized that this is NOT my monkey or my circus!! I accept that she has changed and call her regularly to chat about unrelated issues, as she is still the same person deep down.... So I am looking at dealing with my issue with my daughter in the same light.... This world and generation are extremely different to the one I grew up in... It's toxic and destructive, as you've written above. Lee signed the bill on May 9 after Republican lawmakers approved it in the House of Representatives, 73-22, on April 22. The bill passed the Senate on April 16 with a 36-6 vote. With his signature, the law goes into effect July 1.

SB 0392/HB 0322 was introduced by Representative Chris Todd (R-Madison County) and Senator Brent Taylor (R-Memphis). The bill makes several changes to the state's existing laws around human trafficking, creating the offense of "human smuggling" — a Class E felony that would be treated the same as other human trafficking offenses. People who hide and transport at least 10 adults, or five minors, who are in the country illegally for "commercial advantage or private financial gain" would commit "human smuggling." The bill also said the offense applies to people who "encourage or induce" the same number of people to stay in Tennessee against federal law. The bill also allows the state's attorney general to act against organizations, including nonprofits and businesses, that they believe violate human trafficking laws. The state could ask courts for restraining orders against them, permanent injunctions, or ask the court to revoke essential documents like certificates and licenses. The bill also allows the attorney general to ask courts to "involuntarily dissolve the organization." It would also create a separate Class A misdemeanor for people who "harbor or hide" individuals living in the country illegally. The offense would carry a $1,000 fine for each immigrant that people help hide.

Tennessee has made new laws criminalizing hiding undocumented immigrants from law enforcement, making a new felony “human smuggling”, allowing the state AG to act against organizations, including churches, and creates a separate misdemeanor for people who “harbor or hide” undocumented immigrants.
