Professor Áine Ryall has been re-elected unanimously as Chair of the Aarhus Convention Compliance Committee.
The Convention is a multilateral agreement linking the environment and human rights.
She was elected Chair in 2021 and re-elected to serve a second term as Chair in Feb 2026.

We’re launching a new series on curious legal cases in Ireland.
The use of Irish in court remains rare. In the 2019 Ó Cadhla case, the High Court ruled the State must make “reasonable efforts” to assign a bilingual judge when requested.
