1969: The Cost of BRITISH MOTORWAYS | Nationwide | Retro Transport | BBC Archive YouTube video by BBC Archive

This is such an interesting bit of archive footage, touching on infrastructure, planning, road safety, and (in a way) local decision making from the 1960s

I'm really pleased about this! Our big local housebuilding data digitisation project has been recognised in MHCLG's newest housing statistics release

It was a massive effort from the team @antbreach.bsky.social @jrevans.bsky.social @xuanrulin.bsky.social

This morning @centreforcities.bsky.social has put out reports on public and private housebuilding, with one more (on land value capture) to come! The work builds on a rich dataset that I am proud to say I helped to assemble. I am sure it will be a valuable resource for future research

My thesis is a quantitative — if not inaccessibly econometric — account of how deindustrialisation processes played out after 1921. Rather than a sudden shock, deindustrialisation played out gradually as a result of the changing fortunes of different industries and places...

Pleased to say that yesterday I passed my viva examination. The list of people to whom I owe thanks is enormous, but I would like to give a shoutout to my supervisors Jane Humphries and Stephen Broadberry, as well as my examiners Jim Tomlinson and Aled Davies
