I'm quite lax at self-promotion. I want to improve, without relying exclusively on social media campaigns. So, I'm going to start a monthly #self-promotion thread to a) get inspiration from the community and b) encourage accountability.
So #kidlit folks – how did you promote yourself this month?
Hey, so who’s going to Bologna this year? I haven’t been since 2019 and considering popping along for a few days. Anyone else booked already?
Is it just me, or has WeTransfer put a limit on transfers? It’s trying to get me to pay a subscription. What file transfer system do others use? I’m trying out Google drive sharing.
This year sees the publication of my 7th picture book, There's Nothing Funny About Bums. Brilliantly illustrated by Matt Robertson & published by Happy Yak, this is a book that will finally put an end to all of those puerile books about bums, farts, pants & poo.
Waiting desperately for the PLR statement to drop in my inbox 🤞 Don’t we usually have the statement by now? (SO grateful for PLR and library borrowers, it’s a flippin life saver every year!)
Thank you!
If you’re a creator or work in the creative industries or otherwise have a heart, then please add your voice to this UK Gov consultation on AI and Copyright. I said ‘freelance’ for company and ‘unsure’ for super-granular legal stuff but made my voice heard. You can too. www.gov.uk/government/c...
While we wait for representation to catch up with reality perhaps we can draw attention to some representative books that we could be reading, buying, borrowing and talking about. It would encourage publishers to do more.

Ha, yes! And all the out of office bounce backs while I’m still going 😭
A bit late to the party, but I’m here now! 🎉 Give us a wave 👋
