Trump administration's new quarters feature pilgrims, ditching civil rights theme Special quarter-dollar coin designs for the U.S.' 250th birthday feature pilgrims and former presidents rather than previously floated civil rights themes.

(The other reason to be upset: The same committee recommended America 250 quarters themed to abolitionism and suffrage. Trump's Treasury Secretary DID scrap those, because they're evil)

Folks, I regret to inform you: This design was OK'd by the Citizens Coin Advisory Committee in...October 2024. Its design was set in place when Biden was in office. The designer left out the olive branch to symbolize the colonists' not yet achieving peace, but hoping for it. Trump didn't do this.

A close up shot of a grey-brown lionhead rabbit. He's looking into the camera as if wondering if it's food.

Things I've yelled at my pets I hope no one overheard number 746;

"Stop trying to hump your sister!"

This little menace has spring fever and had to be but in solitary last night, as he wouldn't leave Penny alone. They're both neutered 😒

These kinds of debates (I guess debate is the word?) make me sad. “AI” in the big picture is a fascist scam built on plagiarism, labor exploitation, and environmental destruction. The underlying LLM and ML technologies are remarkable achievements with all kinds of impressive use cases!

I don't understand when someone tries to blame a person's bad politics on being young.

When I was young I made silly political decisions, but it was stuff like believing Barack Obama would close Guantanimo Bay not I used to think some people didn't deserve rights.

You got stats to back that up? Every survey I check says it's close. 54-46, but that's not split by ethnicity. And no one ever asked them if they're racist.

it's sad reading like 14th century Christian theologians who spent an inordinate amount of time writing "OK there are exactly 3,892 demons and these are their names and these are their powers"... man, you would have loved Dragonball Z

Wait, I thought they'd won? They said they'd utterly destroyed Iran's means of defence and offence? What gives? /s

Super Mario Bros is a great film.

Just a terrible game adaptation.

Unabashedly love the 93 film. The fungus. Toad & his harmonica. Iggy & Spike turning on Koopa when he evolves their intellect. Hot Luigi. Everyone doing the dinosaur. Hopper & Shaw chewing the scenery to pieces. Yoshi. Daisy is a paleontologist. The Brooklyn ladies escaping the castle. Bertha!

John Bonner's slime mold movies YouTube video by Princeton University

The video is quite beautiful.

And now I'll forever think of the Founders from #StarTrekDS9 as slime moulds.

And maybe The Thing.

I have spent the morning wiki-hopping, & reached slime moulds. If I understand correctly, they gather in the thousands, have an almighty battle royale with chemical weapons to decide who can reproduce, then form a superstructure with the losers dying off to raise the winners up to the light. Epic.

The most stunning organism. Hard to believe it is a single-cell! It's literally from another realm, but it looks like it's from another dimension
