Prof. Dr Sebastian Böcker from #UniJena has received an Advanced Grant from @erc.europa.eu for his project ‘BindingShadows’. He and his team will develop machine learning methods to find unknown biologically active metabolites using mass spectrometry data.

The bacterium Acetivibrio thermocellus can break down cellulose and uses a yellow pigment to do so, the molecular structure of which has now been decoded within our Cluster of Excellence @microverse.bsky.social. It was also found that it has antibiotic effects.

Yesterday, Monday 23 June, a satellite was sent into orbit from Vandenberg, California, on a carrier rocket to test tap-proof quantum communication. The research consortium that developed the shoebox-sized satellite called QUICK³ also includes #UniJena.
