In another sign of this cold winter, Lake Champlain has been declared to be closed for only the 5th time in the last 20 years. February 13th marks the earliest closing since 2014 & it's the 3rd earliest since 2000. The earliest ever was January 7th in 1868. #VTwx #NYwx

I am in Milan. It’s work. I help with safety planning for big events.
My take from in the room. VP Vance was heckled by the crowd when he appeared on screen. But I want to point out that the same crowd was loud and supportive when Team USA came out. It was lovely to hear. And quite a juxtaposition.

Before the midterms of 1866, President Andrew Johnson called his congressional opponents traitors and said they should be hanged.

Voters were so profoundly moved by his words... that they gave his opponents a supermajority in Congress, and the nation got the Fourteenth Amendment.

What to know about Mass.' new electricity rates for heat pump users To encourage more heat pump adoption, Massachusetts is offering discounted electric rates in the winter.

With the new rates in effect this winter, heating a home with a heat pump will cost the same — or less — than heating with natural gas.

Time Outdoors: Magical memories of fireflies Though entomologists can show us graphs and charts, most of us know we see far fewer today than when we were kids.

Fireflies are the embodiment of summer and warm childhood memories, writes Wilson Kerr. Thanks to the products we use to keep up our manicured lawns, they’re also in trouble.

And I mean "Zero Kelvin," absolute zero.

If you're not standing up, you're kneeling down.
